নীল ড্রাগন – এক জঘন্য ড্রাগের আড্ডা, কুখ্যাত অপরাধীদের আগমন
হয় সেখানে। “লোঙ্গ” সর্দারের ছেলে শোলী ...তার এক বন্ধু ‘জাঁকালের’ পাল্লায় পড়ে
যায় সেই আড্ডায় , পরে বেতাল গিয়ে উদ্ধার কর তাকে এবং ধ্বংস করে নীল ড্রাগন। নীল
ড্রাগনের কর্তা ধরা পড়ে পুলিশের কাছে।
কিন্তু কিছুদিন পর বেতালের
কাছে খবর আশে যে কর্তা আবার নীল ড্রাগন খুলে তার আড্ডা চালাচ্ছে...আমাদের এবারের
অভিযান বেতালের সঙ্গে নীল ড্রাগনে............।
সঙ্গে রিপ কার্বি ভক্তদের জন্য জমজমাট অ্যাডভেঞ্চার .........।

ReplyDeleteসত্যি ম্যানড্রেকের সঙ্গে একবার দেখা হলে বেশ হতো । ম্যানড্রেক না থাকলে আমাদের ছোটবেলা টা ই বৃথা হয়ে যেত । আর সত্যি সত্যি ম্যানড্রেকের নামে এক জাদুকরের নামে লী ফক তার কমিক্স চরিত্রর নাম ম্যানড্রেকের রাখেন ।
DeleteIndra - the origin of the name 'Mandrake' was not correct as you said here. Recently I read a long interview with Lee Falk ("KING Comic Heroes" by James Van Hise).
DeleteLee Falk was the only one in the room when he drew 'Him' - so he was the model himself. Later on Phil Davis took it on. Falk was influenced by famous magicians mainly by Thurston and few others (in New York). Now comes the interesting part - the origin of the name 'Mandrake'.
When Lee Falk was in high school, he read the famous poem about the mandrake root. He wondered what a mandrake root was, so he looked it up and came to know that it was a real root used in medieval pharmacopeia to cure infertile women and it's a kind of mystical, magical drug. It still exists and when you pull it up, it looks like a man (Remember Harry Potter movie ??) . It grew best under the gallows of hanged men and the legend was that it was best fertilized by the semen of hanged men. That's the legend of the mandrake root. And Lee thought that was fascinating and he got decided the name: "Mandrake the Magician". The name almost never got changed around the world, except only in one place, in South Africa. But everyplace else it's a unique word.
He also talked about how he chose the other main charater's names like 'Narda' and 'Lothar' - some day I will make a post about these. :) :)
