গতকাল শনিবার কিছু পোস্ট করতে পারিনি, কারন হিসাবে একটা ওজুহাত কিন্তু আছে।যেতে হয়ে ছিল জ্ঞানী গুনি জনের দর্শন পেতে। "চারু লতা"(রবীন্দ্র নাথের নষ্টনীড় গল্প থেকে) সিনেমার ৫০ বছর ও সাত্যজিৎ রায়ের উপর একটি সেমিনার অনুষ্ঠিত হয় "নন্দনে", সঙ্গে কুইয। পরিচয় হোল "বিষয় কার্টুন পত্রিকার সম্পাদক "বিশ্বদেব গঙ্গোপাধ্যায়", লাল মাটির "সান্তনু ঘোষ" ও "কমিকস্ অ্যান্ড গ্রাফিক্স" এর গ্রুপ অ্যাডমিন ও কমিকস্ বিশেষজ্ঞ দিব্যজ্যতি গুহের সঙ্গে,সঙ্গে ছিল বন্ধু সুমিত সেনগুপ্ত । প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন "কাঞ্চন জঙ্ঘা" সিনেমার নায়ক ও নায়িকা "অরুন মুখোপাধ্যায়" ও "অলকনন্দা রায়"। বহু জ্ঞানী গুনি জন আমাদের এই ক্ষুদ্র ব্লগ টির সঙ্গে পরিচিত হচ্ছেন এটাই বড় পাওনা, আমারও কিন্তু ওখানে যাওয়া এই ব্লগের মাধ্যমে।
কিছু ফটো পোস্ট হোক - তাহলে এ ব্লগটা আরও বেশি ইন্টারেস্টিং হয়ে উঠবে....

DeleteAs I am seeing more "book collectors"(who loves either show-off THEIR 'collection' more than actual readingOR worse, to 'earn' from those collection) than real "book lovers" who actually collect/read books because he/she loves those...cherish the content and the nostalgia associated with those issues!!
Personally,I don't buy the books/magazines/comics which I will never read but just to increase the number of collection or to-show others the 'years old date' and boast about it!!
For example,I wasn't collecting old Anandamelas until 2013,while those were abundant in market....I only started the old issues only after blogger-friends Mahasthobir and Indrada posted/told-me about the contents of some very old issues...the comics there etc!!Then I was convinced enough to start the collection....

Delete@Hojo, interesting !! If you could elaborate more on how someone's ignorance about some classic old gems identifies him as "book lover" instead of "book collector" !! I mean, if it is an example of "ignorance is bliss"?
DeleteI personally believe if someone is collecting something, it is always out of sheer love to the subject. Its from an urgency that those should be collected and preserved, otherwise those will go into oblivion. I could not imagine of anyone collecting anything without a strong love or strong hatred on the subject or without an urgency in his mind that otherwise those will be erased from the history. Day before yesterday I met a person showing me at least 60-70 minibooks. Its not like that he read and love to read all those minibooks, but he had an urgency that people will soon forget : there was a movement on publishing minibooks. It is an important part of development of Bengali literary movement. I did not even knew of such a huge number of minibooks even existed. I never tried to collect them too. Does it make me more of a book lover than a book collector? I can share my feelings with you, I was more of ashamed than being proud for not having even a single piece of those.
You splendidly explained ur own question,buddy!! That person who bought those out of just 'fear' that those will be otherwise forgotten BUT not for reading(very important) then he is a rather compulsive collector...Unless he explores the books,takes the pleasure of the contents WHY he shud bother about their existence at first place???Unless he is like "see,I got these books which are rare" AND these collectors,when say so,the unsaid meaning,that always remain same, is "kemon dekhalam?? amar ache kintu tomar nei!!"

On the other hand,TRUE Book-lovers are not satisfied by their own reading alone,they love sharing and helping others....A VERY LITTLE example : Me and Indrada have had exchanged Indrajal/rare Anandamela/Suktara etc since 2010 and whenever we get a copy(spare) that other one requires,inform/collect for each others....
WHY?? Because I will feel good if he gets his missing and I guess he feels same....
AND THAT'S WHERE Collectors fail....
Anyway....it's NOT tough,but impossible, to be a lover of "anything(not only books)" unless you have some true passion for it!!
While showing-off is pretty easy...u just have some extra bucks to spend for and very soon u become a "collector"!!

DeleteI understand both are not same. A person, who love to read x number of books if possesses x+y number of books, I don't call him a "compulsive collector". He may earn his pleasure by helping others to read those y number of books or the whole set of x+y number of books too, as you have already exemplified.
May be there are plenty of such people who take pleasure showing off their rare collection and sharing none but there are also not-so-few people collecting books to share with others, to help others earn pleasure of the rare contents, to help the rare books live longer before going to the paper factory and converting to pulp. I call them book lovers too.
May be I have come across too few a lot speaking unsaid words like "kemon dekhalam?? amar ache kintu tomar nei!!" but a more saying unsaid words like "Look at those beautiful creations ! how can a literate human being allow them to vanquish !! someone someday must be benefited out of its literary or artistic content, if not me." Yes they are collectors, but I call them book lovers too. And their book lover entity and collector entity are not competitors to each other.
