Born in British
India, Bangladesh,
Kulhna Nalda village in 23 January 1896. He moved to West Bengal in 1930 and later settled
as Konnagar, Hoogly District.and last age he went to kalna to his only brother DEBENDRANATH
RAHA and leaving permanently.Debendranath Raha Was also a Great
Dramatist.Sudhindranath died in February18 1986 age of 90 .He had a printing
press at Jhama Pukur Lane in Calcutta; latter on this press was bought by
Subhad Chandra Majumder. He was originally a dramatist and wrote many stories.
Many famous persons also worked in his drama e.g.
- Sisher Bhaduri (He was entitled with “Nattacharya”)
- Chobi Biswas
- Kanan Bala
- Sayaju Bala and more.
Poet “Kavi Nazrul Islam” have also written many songs for
his drama, and his plays were performed in many big bannered theaters like
“Star theater”, “Minarba Theater” and etc.
He also wrote many dramas for children like “Kedar Raja”,
“Rana Pratap” and etc. and also wrote dramas for female like “Bhabani Math”,
“Meera Bai” and etc. and plays for everyone “Iskabaner Tekka”, “Lakkha Takar
Heeray”, “Raj Nagarer Ratna Bhandar” and etc.
He also wrote detective stories like “Mukhoser Antrale”,mrittu dut,blood hound,kalar kobolay. and
etc.
He translated many series of Tarzan with a disguised or
nickname name as “Sabyasachi”, and use write Since Fiction stories in Sukhtara
with another disguised or nickname name as “Sri Boyaganik”. He was also known
as an translator for translating over 300 English stories in bengali e.g.
“Shakespeare”, “Victor Hugo”, “Alexander Dumas” and etc. He use to write “Amarbir Kahini” in Sukhtara
magazine with a disguised or nickname as “Mudhusudhan Majumder”, and original
“Mudhushudan Majumder” used to write with a disguised name as “Drishtihin”.
Later after 1970 Sukhtara Magazine used to publish one of his translated
foreign stories on every edition of publish. Three months early before he died,
he received “Kalidas Rai” award.
Most of the stories in Sukhtara Magazine published were
written by Sudhindranath Raha.
Recently I came to know two of his grandsons “Baijayanta
Raha” and “Anandam Raha”, and they too are writers. Anandam Raha writes poem in
‘College Street Magazine’.and of Baijayanta Raha, writes short story,poem in
‘College Street Magazine’& Anandabazar Patrika..
Source of details about “Sudhindranath Raha” are his two grandsons,
through whom I have come to know all the details.
